About Joshua

Josh Robichaud represents clients in matters related to federal and state regulatory policies, regulations and rules applicable to the renewable power and broader electric industry. His experience includes obtaining Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state authorizations for major projects and transactions; FERC compliance and enforcement matters; FERC transmission and centralized markets issues; and rate, tariff and refund matters. Josh’s recent work has focused on energy transition issues, supporting generation and transmission infrastructure developers and supporting transactions involving renewable energy companies and assets. He also represents energy clients before the Department of Energy on matters concerning electricity export authorizations. Josh also advises clients on state and federal policy issues relevant to the development of offshore wind, including various state solicitation processes and wholesale power market developments relevant to the industry.

Prior to joining Bracewell, Josh worked as a legal intern for the Environmental Protection Agency and as a legal fellow for the American Clean Power Association.

Recent Notable Matters

Equinor — negotiation of purchase and sales agreements and conditional grant agreements with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) in support of the 1,260 MW Empire Wind 2 and the 1,230 MW Beacon Wind projects

Navigator CO2 Ventures LLC — development of an industrial scale carbon capture pipeline system of more than 1,200 miles of new carbon dioxide gathering and transportation pipelines across five Midwest states (Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota and Illinois) with the capability of permanently storing up to 5 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per year
